Softec™ Waterjet Cutting Software has been developed by Techni Waterjet with two very clear goals in mind;

  • To cut parts at the minimum cost with the greatest accuracy, and
  • To have a simple and intuitive interface with the operator.

The result, is a comprehensive "All In One" Windows based software, that is specifically designed for Waterjet Cutting, which maximizes productivity and anyone with PC experience can learn to use quickly and easily.

At the "Heart" of Softec™ is Tru-Cut Technology™, a highly sophisticated algorithms database that determines the optimum cutting speeds and machine ramping characteristics. Once you select the material to be cut, its thickness and surface edge finish required, the computer will take care of the rest, ensuring the minium cutting time for any given part. (note: you can also add new materials if required)

The algorithms database was developed with the benefit of over 30 years of waterjet cutting experience from KMT Waterjet (formerly Ingersoll-Rand). Through their thorough understanding of the effects of ultra high water pressure (up to 60,000 psi), abrasive types and volume, cutting head set-ups, corner geometry and the materials being cut, they can determine the optimum speeds and corner ramping characteristics for any given part.

Softec software includes the following features:

  • DXF Importation
  • Standard Objects Library
  • Re-Start Cutting from Anywhere
  • Auto and Array Nesting
  • Five edge qualities, selectable for each line.
  • Costing and estimating package
  • Simple to use C.A.D. package
  • Scanned Image 'Clean Up' function
  • Trouble shooting Diagnostics
  • Dynamic Wear Compensation
  • Multiple Piercing Options
  • Virtual Plate Orientation
  • Real Time Running and Simulation
  • Multiple origin points
  • Design Mode
  • Dry Run Mode
  • Maintenance Timers
  • Off Site Notification

Tru-Cut Technology

Clean-Cut Facts

Advanced abrasive water-jet cutting technology
Abrasive water-jet cutting technology has revolutionised the way many industries efficiently cut a wide range of materials. But not all abrasive water-jet cutting equipment is the same.

Above all other considerations, it is the quality of the software driving the abrasive water-jet cutting equipment that determines its overall performance efficiency and value for money.

Users demand abrasive water-jet cutting equipment that works at the optimum speed while producing accurate and high quality cuts, with minimum striations and other defects. And to satisfy modern demands for higher productivity, the equipment must be low maintenance and simple to operate - a big ask for what is a complex and multi-faceted process.

While many claim to manufacture advanced abrasive water-jet cutting equipment, very few can achieve in practice the competitive advantage, performance and reliability of Tru-Cut® technology.

Software that puts the operator at the cutting edge
Modern abrasive water-jet cutting technology is a child of the computer age and Tru-Cut® technology is true to type.

The heart of its functionality lies in advanced software that has been developed, tested and refined over many years by KMT Waterjet (formerly Ingersol-Rand) and Techni Waterjet.

Minor variations in material thickness, cutting pressure, type and amount of abrasive, part geometry and the tightness of radii in corners requires continuous recalibrations and adjustments to yield the most efficient cutting times and quality results.

The proprietary algorithms in Tru-Cut software deal reliably and effortlessly with these ever changing variables in real time. Cutting speeds are dynamically optimised to compensate for all types of otherwise problematic and potentially wasteful situations.

Hardware with a rock solid reputation
Techni Waterjet only uses the Autoline abrasive cutting heads and mechanical components from KMT Waterjet. These components have been in continuous development since they were first devised 30 years ago, and they match in quality the innovative software underpinning the performance of Trucut™ technology.

The result of this marriage in hardware and software is cutting equipment with outstanding levels of control, versatility, accuracy, ease of use, speed and efficiency, which is low in maintenance and has become the performance benchmark in abrasive water-jet cutting equipment.

No substitute for Tru-Cut® technology
There is no substitute for the speed advantages delivered through Tru-Cut®.

With Tru-Cut®, the software that supports the operator and the cutting machinery determines optimum cutting speeds and the results achieved.

Without Tru-Cut® technology the operator would have to contend unaided with the many variables to achieve the optimum cutting speed. Even a highly trained and experienced operator with a thorough understanding of abrasive water-jet cuttings dynamic characteristics would be no match for Tru-Cut®.

In order to get a smooth-flat surface the nozzle must produce a round stream. Being a fluid, as the stream cuts through the material it begins to flare going from round to elliptical.

Depending on the cutting speed, either a (V) shaped or (A) shaped taper is formed on the cutting edge as a result of flaring.

This changing shape involving stream lag and deformation is a characteristic of all abrasive water-jet cutting technology.

A typical taper (V) will range from 0.010" for a course cut, down to almost 0.00" for an extra fine or perfect cut, and even become a "reverse taper" (A) if travelling too slow.

Typically, when cutting too quickly striations in the surface as well as taper occur because the stream flow has less time to erode the surface smooth or the taper away.

These striations can only be removed and the optimum cutting speed found by slowing the cutting speed to suit the dynamic nature of the cut, such as tight radii, corner angles and the materials unique characteristics.

Tru-Cut® automatically removes the taper and striations through complex acceleration and de-acceleration patterns, unique to certain materials and thicknesses.

The sophisticated algorithms in Tru-Cut software automatically adjusts the linier speed and ramping characteristics to suit the water pressure, material type and thickness, abrasive type, flow rate and finish required.

There is no substitute!
