GARNET SELECTION – Why is it so important?

DUST – High purity garnet should be free of dust. Blast cleaning produces dust emission, it may vary depending on the material toughness and its rapidity to settle. Quality garnet comes with high specific gravity, resulting in a cleaner and safer environment as well.

PRODUCTIVITY – Fast cutting is achieved with speed and a large number of different shaped grains impacting on the surface. Smaller grains accelerate much more readily and impart higher impact energy to surfaces resulting in a superior cut rate. Highly accurate sizing of grains ensures no ineffective fine grains to restrict garnet free flow, and no oversize grains to block focusing tubes.

SURFACE FINISH – Grains should pierce deep into the cavities so the surface results free of embedment and rogue peaks and troughs.

HEALTH AND SAFETY – Garnet must be non-toxic, with no silicosis risk of contamination from leachable heavy metals or radioactive substances.
